The Jackson’s Open Art Prize is an international platform for recognising excellence in art. The first annual competition offers an online showcase and impressive prizes for contemporary and traditional visual artists, both emerging and established, working in any 2D media (except photography, unless used as a component of a painting, drawing or original print). Submissions are welcomed from any country by artists of any age. There is no fee for submission.
There will be a two-tier selection and judging process: first the Jackson’s selection panel will select a longlist and then the panel of expert judges (curators, gallerists, and artists) will select first a short-list and then the winners.
The judges are: Carlos de Lins, an artist and director of Espacio Gallery in London; Hilary Daltry, a London-based artist and head of Printmaking at The Heatherley School of Fine Art, Chelsea; Hugo Grenville, a well-regarded painter and tutor based in Bristol; James Hobbs, an artist and freelance journalist; Paul Bell, a Scottish artist, winner of the BBC Big Painting Challenge; Sarah Sparkes, London-based artist and curator.
The prizes are: First Prize: £3000 Cash, Second Prize: £700 Jackson’s Vouchers, Third Prize: £700 Jackson’s Vouchers, Amateur Prize: £600 Vouchers.
